Baby monkey Zika woke up that morning with only one thing on his mind — cake! The sweet smell coming from the kitchen the night before had stayed in his memory, and now he could think of nothing else. As soon as he opened his eyes, he hurried downstairs searching for something delicious to eat.
Mom was outside watering the plants, and Dad had gone to the market. The kitchen was completely quiet. Zika climbed onto a chair and looked around carefully. Suddenly, his eyes sparkled with excitement when he spotted a beautiful chocolate cake sitting on top of the refrigerator.
“Cake!” Zika squealed happily.
But there was one problem. The cake was too high for him to reach.
Little Zika refused to give up. First, he dragged another chair across the floor with a loud screeching sound. Then he stacked a small box on top of it. Wobbling dangerously, Zika climbed higher and stretched out his tiny arm toward the cake.
Just as his fingers touched the plate, disaster struck.
The chair slipped backward, and Zika lost balance completely. Flour exploded into the air after he crashed into a baking shelf. Eggs rolled across the floor and cracked everywhere. A bottle of milk tipped over and splashed across the counter. Meanwhile, the cake spun through the air before landing upside down directly on Zika’s head!
For a moment, the kitchen became completely silent.
Then came a tiny voice: “Uh-oh…”
Zika slowly stood up covered in chocolate cream, flour, and sticky frosting from head to toe. The once-clean kitchen now looked like a storm had passed through it. There was flour on the walls, eggshells on the floor, and paw prints everywhere. Even puppy Kun had frosting on his nose after trying to lick the fallen cake.
When Mom walked inside moments later, she froze in complete shock. Her eyes grew wide as she looked around the destroyed kitchen. In the middle of the mess stood little Zika holding a tiny piece of cake with an embarrassed smile.
“I only wanted one bite,” he whispered softly.
Mom tried to stay serious, but Zika’s silly appearance was too funny. Soon she burst into laughter. Even Dad laughed when he returned home and saw the chaos.
After cleaning the kitchen together, Mom finally cut a fresh slice of cake for Zika properly. This time, baby monkey Zika sat calmly at the table, promising never to climb for cake again… at least not until the next craving appeared!
