Lyly the monkey loved sunny days more than anything in the world. Whenever the bright morning sunlight shined across the yard, she would rush outside immediately with excitement. She danced around the garden, rolled in the grass, and climbed every tree she could find. To Lyly, a sunny day meant endless fun and adventure.
One afternoon, the weather became extremely hot. The sun blazed high in the sky, and even the chickens hid under the shade to cool off. Lyly’s mother stood by the door holding a cold bottle of water. “Lyly, come inside for a while,” she called gently. “It’s too hot outside.”
But stubborn little Lyly shook her head quickly. “No! I want to play more!” she shouted while swinging from a tree branch.
Her mother sighed and tried again. “You can get sick if you stay under the hot sun too long.”
Still, Lyly refused to listen. She crossed her tiny arms and sat stubbornly in the middle of the yard. Even when her father brought out her favorite snacks, she would not move an inch. “I’m staying outside forever!” she declared dramatically.
As the afternoon continued, the heat became stronger and stronger. Lyly’s face turned red, and sweat dripped down her furry cheeks. But she was too stubborn to admit she was tired. She kept pretending she was perfectly fine.
Suddenly, while chasing butterflies across the garden, Lyly became dizzy. Her little legs wobbled, and she plopped down onto the grass with a groan. Her parents quickly rushed outside. They carried her gently into the cool house and placed a wet towel on her forehead.
After drinking cold water and resting for a while, Lyly finally felt better. She looked embarrassed as her mother smiled softly beside her. “Sometimes, resting is important too,” her mother said kindly.
Lyly lowered her head and nodded. “I’m sorry for being stubborn,” she whispered.
That evening, the weather became cooler, and Lyly was allowed to play outside again—but only under the shady trees. This time, she listened carefully whenever her parents called her inside for a break.
From that day on, Lyly still loved sunny days, but she learned that even the most fun adventures needed a little rest and care
