Monkey Lyly is holed up in her room and doesn’t want to go out to eat with her mom.

It was a quiet evening in the little monkey family’s home, but something unusual was happening. Normally, Monkey Lyly loved going out with her mother, especially when food was involved. She always became excited whenever her mom mentioned noodles, cakes, or fried bananas. But today was completely different.

Lyly had locked herself inside her room since the afternoon and refused to come out. Her mother stood outside the door holding a small pink purse and said gently, “Lyly, come on sweetheart. Let’s go eat dinner together before it gets dark.”

But from inside the room came only a soft reply. “I don’t want to go…”

Her mother looked worried. Earlier that day, Lyly had become upset after losing a drawing competition at school. She had worked hard on her picture and believed she would win first prize. When another monkey student won instead, Lyly felt embarrassed and sad. Since coming home, she had hidden in her room with her blanket wrapped around her.

Her mother knocked softly again. “Lyly, I know you’re disappointed, but staying alone won’t make you feel better.”

Still, Lyly refused to open the door.

As the evening rain began falling outside, her mother quietly went into the kitchen and prepared Lyly’s favorite warm banana soup. The sweet smell drifted through the hallway and slowly reached Lyly’s room. A few minutes later, the door opened just a tiny bit, and Lyly peeked out with watery eyes.

Her mom smiled kindly and sat beside her on the floor. “You don’t always have to win to make me proud,” she whispered gently. “You tried your best, and that matters most.”

Hearing those words made Lyly’s eyes fill with tears. She hugged her mother tightly and finally admitted how hurt she felt. Her mother listened patiently while softly stroking her fur.

After talking for a while, Lyly began feeling much better. Although she still didn’t want to go to the restaurant anymore, she agreed to eat dinner together at home. The two sat side by side sharing warm soup and laughter while the rain tapped softly on the windows.

That night, Lyly realized that her mother’s love was more comforting than any prize in the world.
