The morning sun shone brightly over the little farm where Monkey Xuka lived. Birds chirped happily in the trees while the wind gently moved through the tall cornfield behind the house. Xuka wore his tiny chef apron and carried a basket because he planned to harvest fresh sweet corn for breakfast.
As he walked through the field, Xuka heard strange noises nearby. “Woof… woof…” and “oink… oink…” sounded weak and tired. Curious, Xuka followed the sounds and discovered a small puppy and a chubby piglet sitting sadly beside the fence. Their stomachs growled loudly, and they looked very hungry.
“OMG! Are you two hungry?” Xuka asked with wide eyes.
The puppy wagged its tail slowly while the piglet nodded shyly. They had wandered around since early morning without finding anything to eat. Seeing this made kind-hearted Xuka feel very sorry for them.
“Don’t worry! Chef Xuka will make something delicious for you both!” he said proudly.
Xuka quickly picked several large ears of sweet corn from the field. The corn was golden, juicy, and perfectly ripe. He hurried back to the kitchen while the puppy and piglet followed closely behind with excited faces.
Inside the kitchen, Xuka peeled away the green husks and silky threads from the corn. Then he boiled some in hot water while roasting others over a charcoal fire. Soon, the sweet smell of corn filled the entire house. The puppy barked excitedly, and the piglet danced around the kitchen making funny snorting sounds.
After the corn was cooked, Xuka carefully placed the hot corn onto little plates. Some pieces were soft and buttery, while others were slightly roasted and crispy. The hungry puppy immediately began munching happily, wagging its tail nonstop. The piglet chewed so quickly that little corn kernels stuck all over its nose, making Xuka burst into laughter.
The three friends sat together outside under a shady tree while enjoying their meal. The warm sunshine, cool breeze, and sweet corn made the moment feel perfect.
When they finished eating, the puppy licked Xuka’s hand thankfully, and the piglet cuddled beside him happily. Xuka smiled proudly because helping hungry friends made him feel happier than anything else in the world.
