It was a bright and cheerful morning, and CUTIS was already planning something funny. He had woken up early and noticed that Mom was getting ready for her usual relaxing bath before spending some time in the swimming pool.
A playful idea suddenly popped into his head.
CUTIS quietly ran to find Yen Nhi, who was enjoying breakfast in the kitchen.
“Psst! I have a secret plan,” CUTIS whispered with a mischievous grin.
Yen Nhi’s eyes lit up with curiosity. “What kind of plan?”
CUTIS explained that they would play a harmless hide-and-seek surprise for Mom. As soon as Mom went to take her bath, they would hide nearby and wait until she came out. Then they would jump out and say hello together.
Yen Nhi giggled and agreed immediately.
The two friends carefully found a hiding place behind a large chair near the hallway. They sat quietly, trying not to laugh. Every few minutes, CUTIS peeked around the corner to see if Mom was coming.
“Not yet,” he whispered.
After waiting for a while, they heard footsteps. Both of them held their breath with excitement.
But instead of Mom, it was the family cat walking by. The cat looked at them strangely before letting out a loud meow.
The unexpected sound made Yen Nhi burst into laughter.
“Shhh!” CUTIS whispered, trying not to laugh himself.
A few moments later, Mom finished and headed toward the swimming pool. CUTIS and Yen Nhi quickly sneaked outside and found another hiding spot behind some large potted plants.
When Mom finally walked past, the two jumped out together.
“Surprise!”
Mom was startled for a second before laughing loudly. “There you are! I’ve been wondering where you disappeared to!”
Everyone laughed together. Mom even invited them to join her by the pool.
Soon, CUTIS and Yen Nhi were splashing in the water, playing games, and having a wonderful time. Their silly surprise had turned an ordinary day into a memorable adventure filled with laughter.
By the end of the afternoon, they all agreed that the funniest moments are often the simplest ones shared with family and friends.
