One peaceful afternoon, monkey Lyly was wandering around the backyard searching for snacks when she suddenly noticed something unusual inside the chicken coop. A hen had just laid a fresh egg and carefully walked away for a moment to eat some food nearby.
Lyly stared at the egg with curiosity.
She had often seen the mother hen sitting quietly on eggs for hours every day. In Lyly’s clever little mind, she believed the hen must be protecting something very precious. Wanting to help, Lyly quietly sneaked into the coop, grabbed the egg gently, and carried it away before anyone noticed.
The little monkey proudly climbed onto a soft chair near the house. She placed the egg carefully under her belly and sat completely still, trying her best to “incubate” it just like the chicken did. Every few minutes, Lyly looked around proudly as if she were doing an important job.
Meanwhile, the mother hen returned to the coop and panicked when she discovered her egg was missing. She clucked loudly while running around the yard searching everywhere. The family soon followed the noisy chicken and began looking for the missing egg too.
After a while, they found Lyly sitting stiffly on the chair with a very serious expression on her face. Nobody understood what she was doing at first. But when they noticed the egg hidden beneath her, everyone burst into laughter.
Lyly became confused and lifted herself slightly to check the egg.
Crack!
Unfortunately, she had accidentally pressed too hard while sitting on it for so long. The egg broke completely, and sticky yolk spread all over the chair, her fur, and even her tiny hands. Lyly froze in shock while the family laughed even harder at the messy situation.
Embarrassed, Lyly quickly jumped down and tried to clean herself with leaves nearby. Even the mother hen seemed to stare at her in disappointment.
From that day on, Lyly learned that helping is kind—but understanding the job properly is just as important!
