Early in the morning, smart little monkey Zika woke up feeling excited because today was grape harvest day. The vineyard behind the house was filled with large bunches of purple grapes hanging beautifully under the sunshine. Zika’s dad planned to make fresh homemade grape jelly, and he needed plenty of sweet grapes.
As soon as Zika heard this, she quickly ran outside wearing her tiny straw hat and carrying a small basket.
“Dad, I want to help too!” Zika said cheerfully.
Her father smiled warmly because he knew Zika was always clever and hardworking. Together, they walked through the vineyard rows, carefully checking which grapes were perfectly ripe.
Zika turned out to be an amazing helper.
Using her tiny hands, she gently picked only the juiciest grapes and carefully placed them into the basket without squishing them. Whenever Dad couldn’t reach grapes hanging high above, smart Zika quickly climbed onto a wooden crate and grabbed them with ease.
Soon, the baskets became fuller and fuller.
While harvesting, Zika suddenly noticed a group of birds flying near the vineyard, trying to peck at the grapes. Thinking quickly, she grabbed a shiny metal pan and lightly tapped it with a spoon to scare the birds away. Dad laughed proudly at how intelligent his little monkey was.
After hours of work, they finally carried all the grapes into the kitchen. That was when the fun part began.
Dad washed the grapes while Zika helped separate them from the stems. Then they placed the grapes into a large pot to cook slowly. The sweet smell of fresh grapes filled the entire house, making Zika’s tummy rumble with hunger.
As the jelly thickened, Zika carefully stirred the pot with a wooden spoon while Dad poured the delicious purple jelly into glass jars.
When everything was finished, Dad gave Zika the first taste.
Her eyes widened with happiness.
“Wow! This is the most delicious jelly ever!” she shouted excitedly.
Dad smiled proudly and gently patted her head. Thanks to smart little Zika’s hard work and clever ideas, the grape harvest became a fun and unforgettable family adventure filled with laughter, teamwork, and super delicious homemade jelly.
