CUTIS was always looking for ways to help his family. One sunny morning, he noticed Mom was busy carrying groceries from the market. She looked tired after making several trips between the car and the kitchen.
“I’m going to help Mom today!” CUTIS whispered to himself.
Without telling anyone, he hurried outside and grabbed one of the grocery bags. It was a little heavy, but CUTIS was determined. Step by step, he dragged the bag toward the kitchen while proudly imagining how happy Mom would be.
Unfortunately, CUTIS didn’t realize that the bag contained several bottles of fruit juice. As he pulled it across the floor, the bag suddenly tore open!
Crash!
One bottle rolled away, another tipped over, and bright orange juice splashed across the kitchen floor.
CUTIS froze.
“Oh no!” he gasped.
Just then, Mom walked into the room and saw the giant sticky mess. CUTIS wanted to explain, but he felt nervous. Before Mom could say anything, he spun around and sprinted out of the kitchen as fast as his little legs could carry him.
“Dad! Dad! Help!” he shouted.
Dad was working in the garden when he saw CUTIS running toward him with wide eyes.
“What happened?” Dad asked.
Between deep breaths, CUTIS explained everything. He admitted that he had secretly tried to help Mom but accidentally made a huge mess instead.
Dad smiled gently.
“You were trying to do something kind,” he said. “Mistakes happen. The important thing is to tell the truth and help fix them.”
CUTIS nodded and slowly followed Dad back to the house.
To his surprise, Mom wasn’t angry at all. She understood that CUTIS had only wanted to help. Together, the family cleaned the spilled juice, picked up the groceries, and organized everything properly.
After the kitchen was spotless again, Mom gave CUTIS a big hug.
“Thank you for helping,” she said. “Next time, just ask for assistance with the heavy bags.”
CUTIS smiled with relief. He had learned that helping others is wonderful, but being honest about mistakes is just as important.
And from that day on, he always helped Mom—with Dad nearby when needed!
