CUTIS loved spending time with his dad more than anything. Whether they were playing games, working in the garden, or sharing snacks, every moment together was special. So when Dad had to leave for a few days on an important trip, CUTIS felt very lonely.
Every morning, CUTIS would run to the front gate and look down the road, hoping to see Dad coming home. When Dad didn’t appear, he would slowly walk back inside, trying not to feel disappointed.
Throughout the day, CUTIS carried a small photo of Dad everywhere he went. He showed it to Mom, to his friends, and even to his favorite toys.
“I miss Dad,” he seemed to say.
As evening arrived, CUTIS would sit by the window and stare outside. The stars twinkled above, but they couldn’t replace the person he wanted to see most.
Days passed, and CUTIS never stopped waiting.
One night, after another long day, CUTIS curled up on the couch holding Dad’s photo. His eyes became heavy, and he slowly drifted to sleep.
Meanwhile, something exciting was happening.
Dad had finally returned home!
Wanting to surprise his little boy, Dad quietly entered the house and spoke softly with Mom. Together, they came up with a special plan.
The next morning, CUTIS woke up and rubbed his eyes. At first, everything seemed normal. But then he noticed a trail of colorful balloons leading through the living room.
Curious, he followed them.
The balloons led to the backyard, where a giant banner hung between two trees.
It read: “Welcome Home, CUTIS’S Best Friend!”
Before CUTIS could figure out what it meant, he heard a familiar voice.
“Hey, buddy!”
CUTIS spun around.
There was Dad, standing with open arms and the biggest smile.
CUTIS squealed with excitement and ran as fast as he could. He leaped into Dad’s arms and hugged him tightly.
Dad hugged him back and revealed another surprise—a basket filled with CUTIS’s favorite snacks and toys.
The reunion was full of laughter, hugs, and happy tears.
After waiting day and night, CUTIS finally got the sweetest surprise of all: having Dad back home where he belonged.
