What Did Baby Monkey Xuka Do to Make Her Father Panic?

It was a peaceful morning in the little monkey family’s home. Father Monkey was busy fixing tools in the yard while Baby Monkey Xuka played nearby with her colorful toys. Every few minutes, Xuka would run over to show her father a leaf, a flower, or a funny dance move, making him laugh.

After a while, Father Monkey became focused on his work and didn’t notice that the yard had suddenly become very quiet.

“Xuka?” he called without looking up.

No answer.

He looked around and saw only her toys scattered on the ground. The tiny pink shoes she had been wearing were sitting near the doorway, but Baby Xuka was nowhere to be found.

Father Monkey’s heart started racing.

“Xuka! Where are you?” he shouted as he searched behind the trees, under the table, and around the garden. He even checked the banana patch where she loved to play hide-and-seek.

Still nothing.

The worried father imagined all kinds of terrible possibilities. Had she wandered outside the gate? Had she followed a butterfly into the forest?

Panic quickly took over.

He grabbed his bicycle and prepared to search the nearby paths when he suddenly heard a tiny giggle coming from inside the house.

He stopped and listened carefully.

Giggle… giggle…

The sound was coming from the laundry basket.

Father Monkey slowly lifted the blanket covering the basket and froze in surprise.

There sat Baby Xuka, wearing one of her father’s hats and hiding among the freshly washed clothes. She burst into laughter the moment she saw his shocked face.

“Surprise, Daddy! I was playing secret cave!”

Father Monkey let out a huge sigh of relief before gently hugging his mischievous little daughter.

“You scared me so much, Xuka,” he said with a smile.

From that day on, Xuka learned to tell her father before starting a new hiding game, and Father Monkey never ignored sudden silence again.
