The World Cup had finally arrived, and no one on the farm was more excited than CUTIS. From the moment he woke up, he talked about football nonstop. He even wore his favorite team jersey while doing his morning chores. Dad gave him one important job before the big match began.
“CUTIS, please take our goat to the grassy hill and keep an eye on her while she eats. Don’t let her wander off!”
“I promise, Dad!” CUTIS replied confidently.
The goat happily munched on fresh grass while CUTIS found a shady tree nearby. He placed his phone against a rock and started watching the World Cup match. At first, he glanced at the goat every few minutes. But the game quickly became more exciting. The crowd roared, the players sprinted across the field, and CUTIS couldn’t take his eyes off the screen.
“Goal! What an amazing shot!” he shouted, jumping to his feet.
In his excitement, he completely forgot about the goat.
Several minutes later, the match paused for halftime. CUTIS looked up and froze.
“The goat… where’s the goat?”
The grassy hill was empty.
Panicking, CUTIS ran in circles calling, “Goaty! Goaty! Please come back!”
He searched behind bushes, around trees, and even peeked inside the old shed. Just as he was about to give up, he heard a familiar “Baaa!”
To his surprise, the clever goat had wandered all the way back home by herself. She was calmly standing beside Dad, happily chewing on fresh banana leaves as if nothing had happened.
Dad crossed his arms and smiled. “Looks like the goat knows the way home better than you do.”
CUTIS scratched his head and laughed in embarrassment. Even Mom and the neighbors couldn’t stop laughing after hearing the story. The goat became the hero of the day, while CUTIS earned the funny nickname “World Cup Watchman.”
From that day on, CUTIS learned an important lesson: football is exciting, but responsibilities always come first. Now, whenever he watches a match, he finishes every farm chore before cheering for his favorite team, and the goat never goes missing again.
