One sunny afternoon, CUTIS was riding his little bicycle home after buying fresh vegetables for his mother. The road was peaceful, and birds were singing in the trees. As he passed a small bridge, he noticed an elderly stranger standing beside a broken cart filled with heavy baskets of fruit.
The old man looked worried. One of the cart’s wheels had come loose, and he couldn’t push it any farther by himself.
Without hesitation, CUTIS parked his bicycle and ran over.
“Can I help you?” he asked with a friendly smile.
The stranger gratefully accepted. CUTIS gathered a few sturdy sticks and borrowed a wrench from a nearby farmer. Working together, they tightened the loose wheel and carefully balanced the baskets so the cart could roll safely again.
The old man was deeply touched by CUTIS’s kindness.
“Thank you,” he said. “Many people walked past today, but you were the only one who stopped.”
CUTIS simply smiled. “My parents taught me to help others whenever I can.”
The stranger thanked him once more and continued on his journey. CUTIS thought nothing more of it and happily rode home.
The next morning, something unexpected happened.
A delivery truck stopped outside CUTIS’s house. Inside were baskets of fresh fruit, homemade bread, and a handwritten letter.
The letter read:
“Dear CUTIS and family, yesterday your kindness helped me when I truly needed it. I own a local fruit farm, and I wanted to thank you for reminding me that good people still exist. Please accept these gifts as a small token of my gratitude.”
CUTIS and his parents were speechless.
Just a few hours later, the stranger visited their home in person. He thanked the family again and even invited CUTIS to visit his farm to learn more about growing fruit.
CUTIS’s parents smiled proudly as they watched their son. They realized that even the smallest act of kindness can create wonderful friendships and unexpected blessings.
That evening, the family shared the delicious fruit together. CUTIS learned that helping others without expecting anything in return is one of the greatest gifts a person can give—and sometimes, kindness has a beautiful way of coming back when you least expect it.
