One bright morning, LYLY’s mother had to leave home for a few hours to visit the local market and buy groceries for the family. Before leaving, she gave LYLY a warm hug and said, “Be a good girl while I’m gone. I’ll be back before you know it.”
LYLY smiled and waved goodbye, but as soon as her mother disappeared down the path, the house suddenly felt quiet. Usually, LYLY loved playing with her toys, drawing colorful pictures, and helping around the garden. Today, however, nothing seemed fun.
She sat on the porch hugging her favorite teddy bear, staring at the road and hoping to see her mother return. Every little sound made her jump up with excitement, only to realize it was just the wind rustling through the trees or a bird flying by.
Dad noticed that LYLY seemed unusually quiet. He invited her to help water the flowers, but she gently shook her head.
“How about making your favorite fruit smoothie together?” Dad asked with a smile.
“No, thank you,” LYLY replied softly.
Even her favorite cartoons and delicious snacks couldn’t cheer her up. She simply missed her mother too much.
Wanting to brighten her mood, Dad suggested baking some cookies as a surprise for Mom. At first, LYLY wasn’t interested, but when she imagined how happy her mother would be to come home to freshly baked cookies, she finally agreed.
Together, they mixed the dough, shaped little heart cookies, and decorated them with colorful sprinkles. As the sweet smell filled the kitchen, LYLY slowly began to smile again. She even drew a cheerful welcome-home card with flowers, hearts, and the words, “I Love You, Mom!”
A little later, they heard the familiar sound of footsteps outside.
“Mom’s home!” LYLY shouted excitedly.
She ran to the door as fast as she could and wrapped her arms tightly around her mother. “I missed you so much!” she said, smiling through happy tears.
Mom hugged her gently and kissed her forehead. “I missed you too, sweetheart.”
When Mom saw the homemade cookies and beautiful card, she was deeply touched. She thanked LYLY and Dad for the thoughtful surprise, and the family enjoyed the treats together over warm cups of milk.
That day, LYLY realized that missing someone you love is perfectly natural. Although being apart for a little while can feel difficult, love never disappears. It stays in your heart until you’re together again, making every reunion even more special.
From then on, whenever Mom had to leave for a short time, LYLY remembered that love, patience, and happy little surprises could make the waiting much easier. The warm hug they shared when Mom returned home was the best reward of all. ❤️
