It was late in the afternoon when little monkey LYLY finally returned home. Usually, she skipped happily through the front gate with a bright smile, but today she looked completely different. Her fur was messy, her face was covered with tiny leaves, and there were patches of mud on her hands and feet. Even her favorite ribbon had disappeared!
Mother Monkey looked up in surprise. “LYLY! What happened to you?” she asked gently. “Where have you been all this time?”
LYLY simply smiled shyly and scratched her head without saying a word. Her unusual appearance made her mother even more curious. She checked to make sure LYLY wasn’t hurt, then helped brush the dirt off her clothes while waiting for an explanation.
After taking a deep breath, LYLY finally began to tell the story.
Earlier that day, she had gone for a walk near the forest when she heard tiny cries for help. Following the sound, she discovered a frightened baby rabbit trapped beneath a pile of fallen branches after a strong wind had passed through. Without thinking twice, LYLY climbed over rocks, crawled through bushes, and carefully moved the branches one by one.
The rescue wasn’t easy. She slipped into a muddy puddle, crawled through thick grass, and even lost her ribbon while pulling the last heavy branch away. But after a lot of effort, the little rabbit was finally free. The grateful rabbit happily hopped back to its family, leaving LYLY covered in dirt but smiling from ear to ear.
Mother listened carefully, her puzzled expression slowly turning into a warm smile. She gently hugged LYLY and said, “I’m so proud that you chose kindness, but next time, please tell me where you’re going first. I was worried about you.”
LYLY nodded. “I’m sorry, Mom. I didn’t mean to make you worry.”
Together they washed away the mud, brushed LYLY’s fur until it was soft and shiny again, and searched the garden for a new ribbon to wear. At dinner, LYLY shared her adventure with the whole family, and everyone praised her bravery and compassion.
That evening, Mother reminded LYLY that helping others is a wonderful thing, but staying safe and keeping family informed is just as important. LYLY promised she would always remember both lessons, knowing that true kindness includes caring for those who love you as well.
