It was a warm afternoon when little Monkey Abu wandered into the family garden, searching for something tasty to eat. While exploring under the fruit trees, he spotted a large, ripe durian that had just fallen to the ground. The spiky fruit smelled strong, but Abu loved its sweet, creamy taste.
Looking around to make sure no one was watching, Abu whispered, “I’ll just eat a little.”
But after the first bite, he couldn’t stop! Bite after bite disappeared until the entire durian was gone. Abu rubbed his full tummy and smiled proudly, thinking no one would ever discover his secret.
A few minutes later, Mom Monkey came into the garden carrying an empty basket. She had planned to pick up the ripe durian for the family’s dessert after dinner. To her surprise, the fruit was nowhere to be found.
“That’s strange,” Mom said, looking around.
Just then, she noticed Abu quietly sitting beneath a tree with an unusually round belly. Even more suspicious was the unmistakable smell of durian coming from him.
“Abu,” Mom asked gently, “did you eat the whole durian?”
Abu tried to hide his face and slowly nodded. “I’m sorry, Mom. It was so delicious that I forgot to save some for everyone.”
Mom couldn’t believe it. She was shocked that such a tiny monkey had managed to eat an entire durian by himself! Although she wanted to laugh at his funny expression, she also knew Abu had learned an important lesson.
Before long, Abu’s tummy became so full that he could barely stand up. He held his belly and waddled around the yard while Mom helped him drink plenty of water and rest in the shade.
“You should never eat too much at once,” Mom reminded him kindly. “And it’s always nice to share with your family.”
Abu nodded with an embarrassed smile. “Next time, I’ll ask first and make sure everyone gets a piece.”
Later that evening, Dad and the rest of the family chuckled as Abu told them what had happened. His silly adventure became a funny story everyone would remember for a long time.
From that day on, Abu still loved eating durian, but he always remembered to share it with his family. The sweet fruit tasted even better when everyone enjoyed it together, proving that kindness and sharing make every meal more special.
