One peaceful morning, little Baby Monkey Abu slowly opened his sleepy eyes, expecting to see his loving dad sitting nearby with a warm smile. But something felt different. The room was unusually quiet, and Dad was nowhere to be found.
Abu blinked several times and looked around. His tiny blanket was still wrapped around him, but the familiar voice that always greeted him each morning was missing. A worried expression spread across his little face. He softly called, “Dad?” There was no answer.
Feeling scared, Abu climbed out of bed and began searching every corner of the house. He looked in the kitchen, where Dad usually prepared breakfast. The table was empty. He peeked into the garden, hoping Dad might be watering the vegetables, but only the gentle breeze greeted him.
With each step, Abu’s tiny heart beat faster. His eyes filled with tears as he imagined that Dad had disappeared forever. He hurried down the small path behind the house, calling louder and louder, “Dad! Dad! Where are you?”
Along the way, friendly animals noticed Abu’s sadness. A little bird chirped from a tree, pointing its wing toward the nearby banana field. A playful squirrel nodded excitedly as if encouraging Abu to keep going. Gathering his courage, Abu wiped away his tears and ran as fast as his little legs could carry him.
Finally, as he reached the banana trees, Abu spotted a familiar figure carrying a basket full of fresh bananas. It was Dad! He had gone out early to pick breakfast before Abu woke up.
The moment Dad turned around and saw Abu running toward him with tears streaming down his cheeks, he immediately dropped the basket and opened his arms wide. Abu rushed into the warm hug, holding Dad as tightly as he could.
Dad gently smiled and whispered, “I’m sorry, my little one. I should have told you where I was going.”
Abu sniffled and nodded, feeling safe once again. Together they walked home hand in hand, carrying the bananas and sharing happy laughter. From that day on, Dad always left a little note whenever he went out early, making sure Abu would never wake up feeling alone again.
