It started as an ordinary afternoon until Yen Nhi noticed CUTIS sneaking out of the house with a mysterious backpack. He kept looking over his shoulder, making sure no one was watching. Without wasting a second, Dad joined the chase. The two hurried after CUTIS through the garden, across a small wooden bridge, and along a winding country path. Every time they got close, CUTIS giggled and picked up his pace, making the adventure even more exciting. After several minutes of running, CUTIS finally stopped beneath a large shady tree. Breathing heavily, Dad smiled and asked, “Alright, you’ve won the race! Now tell us—what secret have you been hiding all day?”
CUTIS grinned from ear to ear but didn’t answer right away. Instead, he carefully unzipped his backpack and invited Dad and Yen Nhi to close their eyes. They exchanged puzzled looks but happily played along.
“Ready?” CUTIS asked.
When they opened their eyes, they were amazed. Inside the backpack was a beautifully decorated picnic surprise. CUTIS had packed homemade sandwiches, fresh fruit, colorful flowers, juice, and a small hand-drawn card that read, “Thank you for always taking care of us. Today is your special family picnic!”
Yen Nhi covered her mouth in surprise, while Dad’s eyes filled with happiness. Neither of them had expected such a thoughtful plan. CUTIS explained that he had secretly been preparing everything for days because he wanted to give his family a joyful afternoon together.
The three of them spread out a blanket under the tree and enjoyed the delicious picnic while sharing stories, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Birds sang in the background, and a gentle breeze made the moment even more peaceful.
On the way home, Dad thanked CUTIS for reminding everyone that the greatest surprises don’t come from expensive gifts—they come from love, kindness, and thoughtful gestures. What began as a nonstop chase turned into one of the happiest family moments they would always treasure.
