One quiet morning, little Lily the monkey noticed that something was different. Her cheerful dad, who was usually the first one awake, was still lying in bed. He looked tired, moved very slowly, and didn’t have the energy to smile like he always did. Lily walked over with a worried expression and gently touched his forehead.
“Oh no,” she whispered. “Dad feels really warm.”
Although Lily was still young, she knew her dad wasn’t feeling well. She quickly ran to find Mommy and explained that Dad seemed to have a high fever. Mommy thanked Lily for paying close attention and asked her to help take care of him while she prepared everything he needed.
Lily wanted to do her best. She carefully brought Dad a glass of fresh water and helped place a soft pillow behind his back so he could sit comfortably. Dad smiled weakly and thanked his thoughtful little daughter. Even though he wasn’t feeling well, seeing Lily’s kind heart made him feel a little better.
Next, Mommy showed Lily how to gently place a cool, damp cloth on Dad’s forehead to help him feel more comfortable. Lily followed the instructions carefully, making sure the cloth stayed in place. Every few minutes, she checked to see if Dad needed more water or another clean cloth.
While Dad rested, Lily quietly cleaned the living room and put away her toys so the house would stay peaceful. She didn’t want loud noises to disturb him. She even spoke softly to the family pets, asking them to stay calm while Dad recovered.
Later, Lily picked a few colorful flowers from the garden and placed them in a small vase beside Dad’s bed. “These are to help you smile,” she said sweetly. Dad looked at the flowers and felt touched by Lily’s thoughtful surprise.
As the afternoon went on, Mommy continued caring for Dad and decided it was time to contact a healthcare professional for advice because his fever remained high. Lily stayed by Dad’s side, holding his hand and encouraging him to rest.
Before the day ended, Lily whispered, “Don’t worry, Dad. We’ll take good care of you until you’re feeling strong again.”
