One bright morning, Lily woke up feeling cheerful and full of energy. Her dad had gone out early to take care of some important work, leaving Lily at home for a little while. Before leaving, he reminded her to be good and promised that he would return soon.
At first, Lily planned to play with her favorite toys. But as she looked around the house, she suddenly noticed something.
“Oh my!” Lily said.
There were toys scattered across the floor, pillows out of place, and a few crumbs left on the table from breakfast. The room looked much messier than usual.
Lily stood quietly for a moment and looked around. Then a clever idea popped into her head.
“Dad works so hard,” she thought. “Maybe I can surprise him by cleaning the house!”
Without wasting any time, Smart Lily got to work.
First, she carefully picked up all of her toys and placed them neatly in their basket. She made sure every toy was in the right place. Then she arranged the pillows on the sofa and straightened the small blanket that had fallen onto the floor.
Next, Lily found a little cleaning cloth. She carefully wiped the table, trying her best to clean away every tiny crumb. Her serious expression was absolutely adorable as she checked every corner to make sure the room looked nice.
But cleaning was not always easy!
When Lily tried to sweep the floor, the broom was almost as tall as she was. She struggled to move it from side to side, making herself laugh at how funny she looked. Still, Lily refused to give up.
Little by little, the house began to look cleaner and brighter.
Just as Lily finished arranging the last few items, she heard the sound of the door opening.
“Lily, I’m home!” Dad called.
Lily quickly stood in the middle of the room with a huge smile on her face.
Dad walked inside and suddenly stopped. He looked around in surprise. Everything was neat and tidy!
“Wow! Who cleaned the house?” he asked.
Lily proudly raised her hand.
“I did it, Dad!”
Dad smiled warmly and gave Lily a big hug. He was amazed by how thoughtful and responsible she had been while he was away.
Lily’s heart filled with happiness. She had learned that helping her family could be fun and meaningful. From that day on, Dad knew that whenever Lily wanted to lend a hand, this smart little helper was always ready for a new challenge!
