The house felt unusually quiet that morning. Kien sat alone in his favorite chair, staring silently at the floor. Usually, he was cheerful and full of energy, but today, something was terribly wrong.
The truth about Lala had left him heartbroken.
Kien had just learned something he never wanted to hear. Lala was gone, and no matter how hard he wished otherwise, nothing could change what had happened. His heart refused to accept the painful truth.
Nearby, a little baby monkey noticed Kien’s sadness.
The tiny monkey slowly walked toward him, holding a small piece of fruit. It gently placed the fruit beside Kien and looked up at him with innocent, caring eyes. The baby monkey seemed to understand that its friend needed comfort.
But Kien turned away.
“I don’t want anything,” he whispered.
The baby monkey did not give up. It climbed carefully onto the chair beside Kien and gently touched his arm. Then it leaned against him, hoping its warmth might make him feel a little better.
Kien pulled away.
For a moment, the baby monkey looked confused and sad. It had only wanted to help. But Kien was trapped in his own painful thoughts. He remembered Lala’s smile, her laughter, and all the moments they had shared together.
“How can this be true?” Kien cried. “I was supposed to have more time with her.”
His tears began to fall.
Seeing this, the baby monkey quietly moved closer again. This time, it did not offer fruit or try to make Kien smile. Instead, it simply sat beside him.
Minutes passed in silence.
Slowly, Kien looked down and noticed the little monkey still sitting there. Despite being pushed away, the baby monkey had chosen to stay.
Kien’s heart softened.
He gently reached out and held the little monkey in his arms. The baby monkey immediately hugged him back, as if saying, “You don’t have to face this sadness alone.”
Kien finally let himself cry.
Although accepting the truth about Lala would take time, he began to understand that grief did not have to be carried alone. The baby monkey could not bring Lala back, but its quiet love and patience reminded Kien that even during the darkest moments, comfort could still be found.
And as Kien held the little monkey close, he took the first small step toward accepting the painful truth.
