It was a beautiful morning, and the sunshine gently warmed the little garden beside Lily’s home. Dad had decided it was time to clean everything up and make the garden neat and beautiful again. There were dry leaves scattered across the ground, small branches lying near the plants, and weeds growing between the garden beds.
When Lily saw Dad getting ready with his tools, she immediately became curious.
“Dad, can I help?” Lily seemed to ask excitedly.
Dad smiled and happily agreed. He gave Lily a small basket and showed her how to carefully collect the dry leaves and little pieces of fallen branches. Lily was delighted to have an important job.
She walked around the garden with great enthusiasm, picking up leaves one by one and placing them into the basket. Whenever she found a particularly large leaf, she proudly carried it over to Dad as if she had discovered something very special.
Dad worked nearby, pulling weeds and clearing the paths. Every now and then, he looked over at Lily and smiled. Seeing how happily she was helping made the hard work feel much easier.
After filling her basket, Lily carefully carried it to the pile Dad had prepared. She emptied it and quickly returned for another load.
Soon, Lily noticed that some leaves had fallen around the vegetable plants. She carefully picked them up without disturbing the young plants. Dad was impressed by how gentle and careful she was.
“You’re becoming a great little garden helper!” Dad told her proudly.
Lily seemed even more excited after hearing Dad’s praise. She worked harder, helping him clear the pathways and gather small pieces of rubbish. Whenever Dad moved to another part of the garden, Lily followed closely, eager to lend a hand.
After several hours, the garden looked completely different. The paths were clean, the plants had plenty of space, and everything looked fresh and tidy.
Dad and Lily stood together and admired their hard work. Lily looked tired, but she was clearly very happy. Dad gave her a warm hug and thanked her for being such a wonderful helper.
Lily smiled proudly. She had learned that helping Dad could be hard work, but it could also be fun and rewarding.
As they headed inside for a well-deserved snack, Lily looked back at the clean garden with a big smile. She was already excited to help Dad again the next time the garden needed some care.
