One peaceful morning, Abu was busy helping his family around the house. He swept the yard, carried some things inside, and helped tidy up the kitchen. It was an ordinary day, and Abu never expected anything special to happen.
After finishing his chores, Abu sat quietly outside and enjoyed the fresh breeze. He was a little tired from all the work, but he felt proud that he had helped his family.
Suddenly, someone called his name from the gate.
Abu looked up and saw his kind neighbor standing there with a large covered basket.
Abu immediately became curious.
“What could be inside?” he wondered.
The neighbor smiled and walked over. “Abu, I brought something for you.”
Abu’s eyes became wide with excitement. He carefully reached toward the basket, but the neighbor playfully told him to wait.
First, Abu had to guess what was inside.
He shook the basket gently and listened.
Nothing.
He looked at the neighbor and tilted his head in confusion, making everyone laugh.
Finally, the neighbor lifted the cover.
Inside was a wonderful surprise—a basket filled with fresh fruits and some delicious homemade treats!
Abu couldn’t believe it.
He clapped his hands excitedly and carefully picked up the fruit. His face was filled with happiness.
The neighbor explained that Abu had always been polite and helpful whenever they met. He had noticed how hard Abu worked to help his family, so he wanted to give him a little surprise to show his appreciation.
Abu was deeply touched.
Instead of immediately eating the treats, he carried the basket inside to share with his family.
When Mom saw the generous gift, she smiled warmly and thanked the neighbor. Abu proudly explained that the gift was meant for him because he had been a good helper.
Everyone sat together and enjoyed the delicious food.
Abu saved one of his favorite treats for later, but he couldn’t stop smiling.
That unexpected gift meant much more to Abu than the food itself. It reminded him that small acts of kindness never go unnoticed.
Before leaving, the neighbor gently patted Abu and said, “Keep being helpful and kind.”
Abu nodded happily.
From that day forward, Abu became even more determined to help others whenever he could.
