Early one sunny morning, Monkey Lyly woke up full of excitement. Her mother had promised to take her to the plum garden to help harvest the ripe fruit. Lyly quickly got ready and followed Mom outside, carrying a small basket in both hands.
When they arrived at the garden, Lyly’s eyes became wide with happiness. The plum trees were covered with beautiful purple and reddish fruits. Some plums were so ripe that they almost fell from the branches.
“Wow! There are so many!” Lyly seemed to say as she pointed excitedly at the trees.
Mom smiled and showed Lyly how to gently pick the plums without damaging the branches. Lyly carefully reached up, twisted each ripe plum, and placed it into her basket. Whenever she picked a particularly big one, she proudly showed it to Mom.
Soon, their basket was almost full.
But Lyly had another idea.
She secretly picked the biggest, juiciest-looking plum and brought it close to her mouth. She was just about to take a bite when Mom gently stopped her.
Lyly looked surprised.
Why couldn’t she eat it?
Mom explained that they needed to take the freshly harvested plums home first. They had to wash them carefully, sort the ripe ones, and prepare them properly before eating. Some of the plums also needed to be saved for selling and sharing with the family.
Lyly looked at the plum in her hand and sighed. She was disappointed, but she understood.
Instead of eating, she decided to work even harder.
She helped Mom collect the remaining plums and carefully placed them into a larger basket. By the time they finished, the garden looked much cleaner, and they had gathered a wonderful harvest.
Back at home, Mom washed several beautiful plums and cut one open for Lyly to taste.
Lyly’s face immediately lit up with happiness.
The sweet, juicy flavor made all her waiting worthwhile. She happily shared the plum with Mom, giving her a grateful hug.
Mom smiled and reminded Lyly that sometimes waiting patiently makes a delicious reward even sweeter.
Lyly nodded proudly. She had learned that helping Mom was not only fun—it made the final treat feel even more special! 🍑🐒❤️
