It was a long and exhausting day, and Mom could barely keep her eyes open. From early morning chores to taking care of everything around the house, she had not stopped for a single moment. Even in the afternoon, while everyone else rested, Mom was still busy finishing the last few tasks.
CUTIS noticed something was different. Usually, Mom would smile, laugh, and play along with him and Buem. But today, her movements were slower, her voice softer, and there was a tired look on her face that CUTIS couldn’t ignore.
“Mom, are you okay?” CUTIS asked, gently tugging at her sleeve.
“I’m fine, just a little tired,” she replied with a faint smile, trying not to worry him.
But CUTIS wasn’t convinced. He watched as Mom sat down for a moment, rubbing her shoulders and closing her eyes. That’s when he realized—Mom needed help.
Without saying another word, CUTIS quickly grabbed the phone and ran to a quiet corner. With small but determined fingers, he called Dad. His voice was urgent but sincere. “Dad, can you come home soon? Mom is really tired.”
There was a pause on the other end before Dad responded, “I’ll be there as fast as I can.”
CUTIS returned to Mom’s side and sat quietly next to her, holding her hand. He didn’t make noise or ask for anything—he simply stayed close, offering the only comfort he knew how to give.
Not long after, the door opened. Dad rushed in, concern written all over his face. He immediately went to Mom, gently asking how she felt. Seeing Dad there, Mom’s eyes filled with emotion—not because she was weak, but because she felt cared for.
“You didn’t have to call,” she said softly to CUTIS.
“But you looked so tired,” CUTIS replied.
Dad smiled proudly and said, “You did the right thing.”
That evening, things slowed down. Dad took over the chores, and Mom finally got the rest she needed. As for CUTIS, he sat nearby, watching over her with a small smile.
In that simple moment, love spoke louder than words.
