Early one morning, CUTIS and Buem woke up before the sun had fully risen. The house was still quiet, and their mom was fast asleep after a long day of hard work. The two friends looked at each other with a spark of excitement—they had a secret plan.
“Today, we’re going to surprise Mom with something special,” CUTIS whispered.
Buem nodded eagerly. “Let’s make her favorite food!”
The idea sounded simple, but neither of them had much experience in the kitchen. Still, their determination was stronger than their doubts. They quietly tiptoed into the kitchen and began gathering ingredients—fresh vegetables, eggs, some rice, and a few spices they hoped were the right ones.
At first, everything went smoothly. CUTIS carefully chopped the vegetables while Buem tried to cook the rice. But soon, things started to get a little chaotic. The rice boiled over, spilling onto the stove, and Buem panicked. CUTIS accidentally added too much salt, then tried to fix it by adding water, making the dish look more like soup.
They paused and looked at each other, unsure of what to do next. For a moment, it seemed like their surprise might turn into a disaster.
But then CUTIS smiled. “We can still fix this. Let’s start over—together.”
This time, they worked more carefully. They cleaned up the mess, measured the ingredients properly, and helped each other every step of the way. Slowly but surely, a warm, delicious meal came together. The aroma filled the house, drifting into Mom’s room.
Mom soon woke up, surprised by the wonderful smell. She walked into the kitchen and stopped in amazement. “What’s all this?” she asked.
CUTIS and Buem proudly presented the meal. “It’s for you, Mom! A special surprise!”
Mom tasted the food, her eyes softening with emotion. “It’s delicious,” she said, smiling warmly.
Though it wasn’t perfect, it was made with love—and that made it the most special meal of all.
