One warm afternoon, Monkey Lyly decided it was the perfect time for a bath. She had been playing outside all morning, her fur covered in dust and leaves, and in her mind, there was only one solution—splashing in cool water!
But when Lyly ran to her mom with excitement, things didn’t go as planned.
“Mom! I want to take a bath now!” Lyly said eagerly.
Her mom gently shook her head. “Not right now, Lyly. The weather is changing, and the water might be too cold. Let’s wait a bit.”
But Lyly was not having it.
Stubborn as ever, she crossed her arms and pouted. “No! I want a bath now!” Without waiting for permission, she dashed off toward the backyard where a small tub sat waiting.
Her mom called after her, but Lyly had already made up her mind.
With a big splash, Lyly jumped into the tub. At first, she laughed happily, splashing water everywhere and enjoying her little victory. “See, Mom? It’s fun!” she called out proudly.
But just moments later… everything changed.
A sudden breeze swept through the yard, and Lyly shivered. The water that once felt refreshing now felt icy cold. Her laughter faded, replaced by a small, worried squeak. “M-Mom… it’s cold…”
Her mom quickly rushed over, wrapping Lyly in a warm towel and lifting her out of the tub. “That’s why I told you to wait,” she said softly, though her voice was filled with concern, not anger.
Lyly sniffled, her teeth chattering slightly. “I’m sorry, Mom… I should have listened.”
Back inside, her mom dried her fur and held her close until she was warm again. Lyly leaned into her, feeling both safe and a little embarrassed.
“I just wanted to have fun,” Lyly whispered.
“I know,” her mom replied gently. “But sometimes, waiting keeps us safe.”
From that day on, Lyly still loved baths—but she always made sure to listen to her mom first. And every time she felt tempted to be stubborn again, she remembered that chilly afternoon and chose a little patience instead.
