Baby monkey Xuka had always been very close to her aunt. They played together, ate together, and even napped side by side. To Xuka, her aunt was the most special person in the world. So when something suddenly changed, her little heart couldn’t understand it.
One morning, her aunt brought home a small, fluffy puppy. The puppy was tiny, with soft fur and big, curious eyes. “Look, Xuka! Isn’t he adorable?” her aunt said happily.
Xuka nodded slowly, but inside, something didn’t feel right.
From that moment on, her aunt seemed very busy with the puppy—feeding him, cuddling him, and laughing at his playful antics. Xuka watched quietly from the corner. The more she saw, the sadder she felt.
“She loves the puppy more than me…” Xuka whispered to herself.
Her cheerful energy faded. She didn’t run to greet her aunt anymore. She didn’t laugh or play like before. Instead, she sat alone, hugging her little arms, trying not to cry.
Her aunt noticed the change but didn’t understand why. “Xuka, what’s wrong?” she asked gently.
“I’m fine…” Xuka replied softly, looking away.
But one afternoon, everything came out. When she saw her aunt hugging the puppy again, Xuka couldn’t hold it in anymore. Tears filled her eyes as she ran over.
“You don’t love me anymore!” she cried. “You only love the puppy!”
Her aunt was shocked. She quickly put the puppy down and hugged Xuka tightly. “Oh, Xuka… that’s not true at all,” she said softly.
“But you always play with him…” Xuka sobbed.
Her aunt smiled gently and wiped away her tears. “I care for the puppy because he’s small and needs help. But you—” she touched Xuka’s cheek—“you are my precious girl. No one can replace you.”
To prove it, she held Xuka close and said, “Why don’t we all play together?”
Slowly, Xuka looked at the puppy, who wagged his tail happily. She hesitated… then smiled a little.
That day, Xuka learned something important—love doesn’t get smaller when shared. It grows bigger. And as she played with her aunt and the puppy, her heart felt full again.
