One bright and breezy afternoon, Baby Monkey Xuka was busy playing with leaves in the yard when her aunt called out, “Xuka, come here! We have a surprise for you!”
Xuka tilted her head curiously and scampered over, her tiny feet tapping quickly on the ground. “A surprise? For me?” she asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Her aunt smiled and pointed toward two strong trees in the corner of the yard. Between them hung a beautiful new hammock, woven carefully with soft, colorful threads. It swayed gently in the breeze, inviting and cozy.
“My husband made it just for you,” her aunt said proudly.
Xuka froze for a moment, her mouth slightly open. “For… me?” she whispered, as if she couldn’t believe it. Then suddenly, her face lit up with pure joy. “Woooow!!!” she squealed, clapping her hands and bouncing up and down.
She ran toward the hammock but stopped just in front of it, unsure. “Can I try?” she asked, looking back nervously.
“Of course,” her aunt laughed. “It’s all yours!”
Carefully, Xuka climbed in. At first, the hammock wobbled, and she grabbed the sides tightly. “Ahhh!” she giggled, a mix of fear and excitement. But after a few seconds, she began to relax as the hammock gently rocked her back and forth.
“This is soooo fun!!!” Xuka shouted, her laughter filling the yard.
Her aunt’s husband stepped closer, smiling. “I’m glad you like it, Xuka.”
“I love it!” she replied loudly, swinging a little higher. But then… something unexpected happened.
Xuka got a bit too excited and started rocking harder and faster. The hammock swung wildly from side to side. “Wheee—oh no!” she cried as she lost her balance and tumbled gently onto the grass with a soft thump.
For a second, everything was quiet.
Then Xuka sat up, blinking—and burst into laughter. “Again! I want to try again!” she said, not upset at all.
Her aunt rushed over. “Are you okay?”
“I’m okay!” Xuka giggled, brushing off the grass.
Everyone laughed together. From that moment on, Xuka’s new hammock became her favorite place—not just for fun, but also for relaxing under the warm sky, swinging gently with a big happy smile.
