Baby Monkey Zika Helps Uncle Make Steamed Buns for Breakfast

The soft glow of early morning sunlight peeked through the trees as baby monkey Zika rubbed her sleepy eyes. The forest was still quiet, but a delicious smell drifted through the air, making her tummy rumble. Curious, Zika followed the scent and found her uncle already awake, busy in the small outdoor kitchen.

“Good morning, Zika!” her uncle said with a warm smile. “I’m making steamed buns for breakfast. Want to help?”

Zika’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Yes, Uncle! I want to learn!”

Her uncle handed her a small bowl of flour. “First, we mix the dough,” he explained patiently. Zika poured in water a little too quickly, splashing some onto the table. She giggled nervously, but her uncle just laughed. “That’s okay! Cooking can be messy sometimes.”

They kneaded the dough together, pressing and folding it until it became soft and smooth. Zika’s tiny hands worked hard, even though the dough stuck to her fingers. “It’s like playing with clay!” she said happily.

Next, her uncle showed her how to shape the buns. Zika carefully rolled the dough into small round balls, though some came out a bit lumpy. “They don’t have to be perfect,” her uncle reassured her. “They’ll still taste great.”

Soon, they placed the buns into the steamer. As the water heated, steam began to rise, carrying a warm, comforting aroma. Zika watched closely, her eyes wide with anticipation. “How long do we wait?” she asked.

“Just a little longer,” her uncle replied. “Good things take time.”

Finally, the buns were ready. Her uncle lifted the lid, and a cloud of steam puffed out, revealing soft, fluffy buns inside. Zika clapped her hands in delight. “We did it!”

They sat together to enjoy breakfast. Zika took a big bite and smiled. “It’s so yummy!” she said proudly.

Her uncle nodded. “That’s because you helped make them.”

As the sun rose higher, Zika felt happy and proud. That morning, she didn’t just eat breakfast—she learned that helping others and trying new things can make even simple moments feel special.
