One peaceful morning, CUTIS woke up excited to spend the day with his best friend, Yen Nhi. They had planned to play together in the garden, explore the farm, and enjoy some delicious snacks. But when CUTIS arrived at the usual meeting spot, Yen Nhi was nowhere to be seen.
Curious and a little worried, CUTIS decided to search for her. He looked under the big mango tree, behind the flower bushes, and even inside the small playhouse where they often shared their favorite toys. He called out, “Yen Nhi! Where are you?” but only the cheerful songs of birds answered him.
Not ready to give up, CUTIS continued his search around the farm. He checked the vegetable garden, peeked into the chicken coop, and carefully looked near the duck pond. Along the way, he asked the friendly animals if they had seen Yen Nhi. The ducklings quacked happily, and the goats simply stared back, making CUTIS laugh despite his concern.
Just as he was beginning to think she had gone somewhere else, something completely unexpected happened. A tiny kitten suddenly appeared from behind a basket and began following CUTIS everywhere he went. Every time he stopped walking, the curious little kitten stopped too. When he started running, the kitten hurried after him with tiny, playful steps.
CUTIS couldn’t help but giggle. He gently picked up the fluffy kitten and gave it a warm cuddle. The kitten purred happily, as if it had chosen CUTIS to be its new friend for the day.
A few moments later, CUTIS heard a familiar laugh coming from the nearby fruit orchard. He hurried toward the sound and finally found Yen Nhi. She had been helping her family collect ripe fruit and hadn’t heard him calling earlier.
When Yen Nhi saw the adorable kitten in CUTIS’s arms, her face lit up with joy. Together they spent the afternoon playing with their unexpected furry companion. They built a cozy little bed for the kitten, gave it fresh water, and watched it chase butterflies through the grass.
Although CUTIS had started the day searching for his friend, he ended up discovering something even more special—a new little companion that brought smiles to everyone. It reminded them that life’s best surprises often appear when we least expect them.
As the sun began to set, CUTIS, Yen Nhi, and the playful kitten walked home together, grateful for a day filled with friendship, laughter, and an unforgettable surprise that made their adventure even more meaningful.
