The sun had barely risen when CUTIS jumped out of bed, full of excitement. Today was special—he was going to help Dad sell fresh avocados at the market. With a big smile and a tiny basket in his hands, CUTIS hurried outside where Dad was already loading crates of ripe, green avocados onto their small cart.
“Ready for a big day?” Dad asked with a grin.
CUTIS nodded eagerly. “I’m going to be the best helper ever!”
The trip to the market was full of chatter and laughter. CUTIS held onto the cart, watching the world wake up around him. When they arrived, the place was already buzzing with people—vendors calling out, customers bargaining, and the smell of fresh fruits filling the air.
Dad set up their stall neatly, arranging the avocados in perfect rows. CUTIS watched carefully, then tried to copy him, stacking the fruits as best as he could. Some wobbled and rolled, making him giggle, but he didn’t give up.
“Fresh avocados! Sweet and creamy!” Dad called out.
CUTIS took a deep breath and shouted, “Fresh avocados here!” His small voice made a few customers smile as they walked over.
A kind lady stopped by and picked up an avocado. “Are these good?” she asked.
CUTIS nodded quickly. “Yes! Dad says they’re the best!”
Dad chuckled and added, “They’re freshly picked this morning.”
Soon, more customers gathered. CUTIS helped hand over bags, count money (with a little help), and even offered friendly smiles to everyone. Though he got tired, he never stopped trying. At one point, he accidentally dropped an avocado, and it rolled across the ground. Embarrassed, he looked at Dad—but Dad just smiled.
“Mistakes happen,” he said gently. “You’re doing great.”
That gave CUTIS the confidence to keep going.
By the end of the day, most of the avocados were sold. CUTIS sat beside Dad, sipping some water, his face a little dusty but full of pride.
“You were an amazing helper today,” Dad said.
CUTIS beamed. It wasn’t just about selling avocados—it was about learning, helping, and sharing a special day with Dad.
