One quiet afternoon, baby monkey Xuka sat alone near the window, hugging her tiny blanket tightly. Usually, Dad would spend time playing with her, feeding her sweet bananas, and carrying her on his shoulders around the yard. But lately, everything seemed different.
Ever since the little dog Kun arrived at the house, Dad’s attention had slowly changed.
Kun was playful, energetic, and always followed Dad everywhere. Dad laughed whenever Kun chased his tail or barked happily around the garden. He bought new toys for Kun, gave him delicious snacks, and even let him sleep beside him during nap time.
Xuka watched all of this silently.
At dinner time, Dad prepared food for Kun first while Xuka waited patiently in the corner. Her small eyes looked sad, and her heart felt heavy. “Did Dad stop loving me because of Kun?” she wondered quietly.
That evening, rain began to fall outside. Thunder echoed through the sky, frightening little Xuka. Normally, she would run straight into Dad’s arms. But this time, she hesitated.
She slowly walked to the doorway and saw Dad drying Kun’s wet fur with a towel. Xuka lowered her head and turned away sadly.
But before she could leave, Dad noticed her trembling.
“Xuka!” he called gently.
Dad immediately placed Kun down and hurried toward the baby monkey. He wrapped Xuka in a warm blanket and held her close against his chest.
“Why are you sitting alone, my little girl?” Dad asked softly.
Xuka looked at Kun and then back at Dad with watery eyes.
Dad quickly understood.
He smiled warmly and kissed Xuka’s forehead. “No one could ever replace you,” he whispered. “Kun is part of our family too, but you will always be my precious baby monkey.”
Hearing those words, Xuka finally smiled again.
Soon, Kun jumped beside them and licked Xuka’s tiny hand playfully. Xuka giggled happily for the first time in days.
From that moment on, Xuka realized that love does not become smaller when a new family member arrives — it simply grows bigger.
