The rain had been pouring nonstop since early morning, turning the yard into a maze of muddy puddles. CUTIS stood by the window, watching the heavy drops splash against the glass. His stomach growled loudly as he remembered the delicious snacks he had seen at the small shop down the street. Even though the weather was terrible, his craving was impossible to ignore.
Gathering his courage, CUTIS tiptoed toward Dad, who was relaxing on the couch, sipping warm tea and listening to the rain. With his most innocent voice, CUTIS asked, “Dad, can I have a little money to buy some snacks?” Dad slowly lowered his cup and stared at him in disbelief. He glanced at the storm outside, then back at CUTIS, raising one eyebrow dramatically.
“Did you look outside?” Dad asked, pointing at the rain. “Even the ducks are staying dry today!” CUTIS nodded eagerly and replied, “Yes, but snacks taste even better when it’s raining.” His serious expression made Dad burst into laughter. Shaking his head, Dad pretended to think deeply, stroking his chin as if making a very important decision.
Suddenly, Dad jumped up, grabbed an umbrella, and acted as if he were about to head out himself. CUTIS’ eyes widened in surprise. “If anyone is crazy enough to go out in this rain, it should be me,” Dad joked. Then he handed CUTIS a small towel and some money. “But only if you promise to be quick and careful.”
Excited, CUTIS rushed to put on his raincoat and boots, nearly slipping as he ran toward the door. Dad called after him, reminding him to avoid the biggest puddles. Watching his son dash through the rain, Dad couldn’t stop laughing.
When CUTIS finally returned, soaked but smiling, he proudly held up a bag of snacks. Dad clapped dramatically, teasing him like a hero returning from an epic adventure. They shared the treats together, listening to the rain and laughing.
That rainy day turned into a cheerful memory, proving that even the wettest moments can become the funniest family stories.
