It was a bright and cheerful morning, and baby monkey Xuka had just finished playing in the garden. After running around, climbing small trees, and chasing butterflies, he felt very thirsty. Xuka hurried back home, hoping to find something delicious to drink.
When he entered the kitchen, he noticed a glass filled with a bright orange-colored drink sitting on the table. Curious, Xuka tilted his head and stared at it. He had never seen such a colorful drink before.
His dad smiled and said, “Xuka, this is orange juice. Would you like to try it?”
Xuka’s eyes widened with excitement. He carefully picked up the glass with both hands and sniffed it. The sweet citrus smell instantly made him even more curious.
Without waiting another second, Xuka took a big sip.
The moment the juice touched his tongue, his face changed completely! First, his eyes grew huge. Then his lips puckered up. The slightly sour taste surprised him so much that he froze for a moment.
Dad couldn’t help laughing.
“What’s wrong, Xuka?” he asked.
Xuka blinked several times and looked at the glass in confusion. The juice was sweet, but it was also a little tangy. He wasn’t sure if he liked it or not.
After thinking carefully, he decided to take another sip.
This time, he was prepared. The sweet and refreshing flavor tasted much better than before. His face suddenly lit up with joy. He began drinking faster and faster, making happy little sounds between each sip.
“Yummy! Yummy!” Xuka seemed to say with his excited expressions.
Soon, the glass was completely empty. Xuka looked inside, hoping there would be more.
When he realized he had finished every drop, he held out the glass to Dad and gave him the cutest smile possible.
Dad laughed again and poured him a little more orange juice.
Xuka happily danced around the kitchen while enjoying his favorite new drink. From that day on, orange juice became one of baby monkey Xuka’s most loved treats, and everyone laughed whenever they remembered his funny first reaction!
