It started as an ordinary morning, but for one little baby monkey, the day would soon become filled with sadness and tears.
Baby Monkey woke up excited and wanted to spend time with his dad. He had been waiting all morning to show Dad a little surprise he had made. With a big smile, he carefully carried his special gift and ran toward him.
“Dad! Dad! Look what I made!” the baby monkey happily called.
But Dad was busy and distracted. Without thinking, he spoke in a harsh voice.
“Not now! Can’t you see I’m busy?”
The little monkey suddenly stopped.
His smile disappeared, and he slowly lowered his hands. Dad did not notice the tears beginning to form in his eyes. Feeling hurt and unwanted, the baby monkey quietly walked away.
He sat alone for a while, holding his little gift tightly. The more he thought about Dad’s words, the sadder he became.
“Maybe Dad doesn’t want me around,” he whispered.
With a heavy heart, the baby monkey made a decision. He packed a few small things and slowly left home.
At first, Dad did not realize what had happened. He continued working until the house became unusually quiet.
“Where is my little monkey?” Dad asked.
He looked in the bedroom. No one.
He checked the yard. No one.
Then Dad noticed the small gift lying on the floor.
His heart suddenly sank.
Dad picked it up and realized that his little monkey had only wanted to make him happy. He remembered the disappointed look on his child’s face and immediately understood his mistake.
“Oh no… what have I done?” Dad whispered.
Without wasting another second, Dad rushed outside and began searching everywhere. He called his baby monkey’s name again and again.
Finally, Dad found him sitting beneath a tree, looking lonely and heartbroken.
The little monkey looked up, surprised to see Dad running toward him.
Dad quickly hugged him tightly.
“I’m so sorry,” Dad said with tears in his eyes. “I was busy, but I should never have spoken to you that way. You are more important to me than anything.”
The baby monkey held onto Dad and began to cry.
Dad gently wiped away his tears and looked at the little gift again. “Can you show me what you made?”
A small smile finally returned to the baby monkey’s face.
Together, they walked home hand in hand. Dad had learned an important lesson: sometimes, a few careless words can hurt someone we love deeply. From that day on, he always made time to listen, hug, and remind his little monkey just how loved he truly was.
