Early one sunny morning, CUTIS and Buem were playing outside near the family barn when they heard Dad calling out in confusion. His favorite cow, Daisy, was nowhere to be seen. Dad scratched his head and looked around the yard, wondering how such a big animal could disappear so suddenly. CUTIS and Buem looked at each other, trying hard not to laugh, because they knew exactly where Daisy was.
Just an hour earlier, the two mischievous kids had been helping Dad feed the animals. Daisy, the gentlest cow on the farm, kept following them around like a playful puppy. Buem suddenly had a funny idea. “What if we hide Daisy and surprise Dad?” he whispered. CUTIS giggled and quickly agreed. Together, they carefully led the cow behind a large stack of hay bales at the back of the barn, where only her tail could barely be seen.
When Dad came back with fresh grass, he was shocked to find Daisy missing. “Where did my cow go?” he asked, walking around the barn with a puzzled expression. CUTIS and Buem tried their best to act innocent, but their little smiles made it obvious that they were up to something.
Dad searched near the fence, behind the water trough, and even inside the chicken coop, making the children laugh harder with every wrong guess. At one point, Daisy let out a soft “moo,” but Dad still couldn’t figure it out because the sound echoed through the barn.
Finally, Buem couldn’t hold in the laughter anymore. He pointed toward the haystack, and CUTIS burst into giggles. Dad slowly walked over and suddenly spotted Daisy’s tail sticking out from behind the hay. He turned around with a playful, shocked face and said, “So this is your big secret!”
Everyone burst into laughter, including Dad. Even Daisy seemed pleased with the silly game, happily wagging her tail as if she had joined the prank on purpose.
From then on, the story of how CUTIS and Buem “hid” Dad’s cow became one of the funniest family memories ever, retold at dinner for many days with endless laughter.
