One quiet morning in the forest, Monkey Lyly noticed that something was wrong with her mother. Usually, her mother woke up early with a warm smile and prepared delicious fruits for breakfast. But today, she was still lying in bed, looking weak and tired. Her forehead felt warm, and her gentle eyes were half closed. Little Lyly immediately became worried.
“Mom, are you okay?” Lyly asked softly, touching her mother’s hand.
Her mother smiled faintly and said, “I’m just feeling a little sick today, my dear.”
Hearing that made Lyly’s heart fill with concern. She decided right away that she would take care of her beloved mother all by herself. Even though she was still small, Lyly wanted to show how much love she had in her heart.
First, Lyly hurried outside to pick the sweetest bananas, juicy berries, and fresh coconuts from nearby trees. She carefully placed them in a little leaf basket and brought them back home for her mother to eat. Then she fetched cool water from the stream and gently helped her mother drink it.
Not stopping there, Lyly used a soft leaf fan to fan her mother slowly, hoping to make her feel more comfortable. She even tucked a warm blanket around her and sat beside her all day, never leaving her side.
Whenever her mother coughed, Lyly rubbed her back gently. Whenever she looked tired, Lyly sang sweet little songs to help her rest. The tiny monkey’s loving care filled their little home with warmth and tenderness.
As the sun began to set, Lyly’s mother started to feel much better. Her fever had gone down, and strength slowly returned to her body. She opened her eyes, looked at Lyly, and smiled with tears of gratitude.
“My sweet Lyly,” she whispered, “you are such a kind and filial daughter. Your love is the best medicine I could ever have.”
Lyly hugged her mother tightly, feeling happy inside. That day, she learned that true love is shown through care, patience, and staying by the side of the people we love most.
