One sunny afternoon, Lyly the little monkey was playing around the house while her mother was busy doing chores. The laundry basket was full of freshly washed clothes that had just been brought in from the clothesline. Lyly’s mother planned to fold them later, but after a long morning of work, she looked tired and decided to rest for a while.
Lyly noticed everything. She saw the big basket of clothes sitting in the corner and looked at her mother sleeping peacefully on the chair. The little monkey tilted her head, thinking carefully. “Mom has been working so hard today,” Lyly thought. “Maybe I can help!”
Slowly and quietly, Lyly climbed over to the laundry basket. The pile of clothes looked big compared to her tiny hands, but she was determined to try. She picked up the first shirt and tried to fold it the way she had seen her mother do many times before. It wasn’t perfect—the sleeves stuck out and the fold was a little crooked—but Lyly smiled proudly at her effort.
Piece by piece, Lyly continued working. She folded small towels, tiny shirts, and even tried to neatly stack the pants. Sometimes the clothes slipped from her hands and fell on the floor, and she had to start again. But Lyly didn’t give up. She wanted to surprise her mother.
After some time, the messy pile had slowly turned into a stack of folded clothes. They weren’t perfectly folded, but they were arranged with care and love. Lyly stepped back and looked at her work, feeling proud of what she had done.
Just then, her mother woke up and walked over to check the laundry. When she saw the neatly stacked clothes, she was surprised. Looking closer, she noticed the tiny folds and realized someone very small had worked hard on them.
Her eyes soon found Lyly standing nearby, smiling shyly.
“Did you do this, Lyly?” her mother asked softly.
Lyly nodded happily.
Her mother’s heart melted with warmth. She gently hugged Lyly and thanked her for the thoughtful help. Even though the folds weren’t perfect, the love and effort behind them meant everything.
From that moment on, it became one of her mother’s most cherished memories—proof that even the smallest acts of kindness can warm a heart in the biggest way. 🐒💖
