I got scolded by the mother cat when I picked up her baby kitten…

It was a quiet afternoon when I heard tiny crying sounds coming from behind a pile of old boxes near the park. Curious and worried, I slowly walked closer to see what was happening. To my surprise, I found three tiny newborn kittens lying on a piece of torn cloth. They were so small that their eyes were still closed, and they kept meowing loudly as if calling for help.

Among the kittens, one little orange kitten crawled away from the others and almost fell into a muddy puddle. Without thinking too much, I quickly reached down and gently picked the kitten up in my hands. The tiny baby felt warm and fragile, and I was afraid it might get hurt.

But suddenly, I heard an angry “Meowww!”

Before I could even react, the mother cat rushed out from under the boxes. She looked at me with wide eyes and started scolding me loudly. Her tail puffed up, and she kept circling around my feet while growling protectively. I realized she thought I was trying to steal her baby.

I felt so guilty and immediately lowered myself down carefully. “I’m sorry, Mama Cat,” I whispered softly while placing the kitten back beside its siblings.

The mother cat quickly ran to her baby and began licking its head lovingly. She still kept staring at me cautiously, making sure I stayed away from her kittens. Even though she looked angry, I understood she was only trying to protect her little family.

After a few minutes, I brought some fresh water and a little food for the mother cat. This time, I stayed farther away so she wouldn’t feel threatened. Slowly, she stopped growling and quietly watched me from a distance.

That moment taught me something important: a mother’s love is incredibly powerful. Even a small stray cat will bravely protect her babies no matter what. Although I got scolded by the mother cat, I couldn’t blame her at all. She was simply being a caring and loving mother.
