One bright morning, Lala the little monkey woke up excited to help Mom in the garden. The tomato plants were full of ripe, red fruit, and it was finally time to harvest them. Mom carried a basket and smiled warmly, calling Lala to come along. Usually, Lala loved helping with little chores, especially in the garden where everything smelled fresh and sweet.
But as they reached the tomato patch, Lala’s excitement slowly faded. She squinted her eyes and leaned closer to the vines, trying hard to tell which tomatoes were ripe and ready to pick. Some looked red, some looked green, and others were hidden behind the leaves. No matter how hard she tried, her weak eyesight made everything blurry.
Lala reached for what she thought was the perfect tomato, but Mom gently stopped her. It was still green and not ready yet. Lala tried again, only to accidentally grab a leaf instead of the fruit. Her small face fell with disappointment. She wanted so badly to help, but her vision problem made such a simple task feel impossible.
Soon, Lala sat quietly beside the basket, feeling helpless and sad while Mom continued harvesting. Tears formed in her eyes as she whispered, “I want to help too.” Mom immediately knelt beside her and gave her a loving hug. She reminded Lala that needing help sometimes is nothing to be ashamed of.
Then Mom had a sweet idea. Instead of picking the tomatoes, Lala could help by holding the basket and sorting the tomatoes by size once Mom placed them inside. This was much easier because she could touch them carefully and feel which ones were big or small.
Lala’s face lit up with joy. She happily sat under the shade, gently sorting the smooth tomatoes with her little hands. Soon the basket was beautifully organized, and Mom praised her for doing such an important job.
By the end of the morning, Lala no longer felt helpless. She learned that even when one task is difficult, there is always another way to help with love and determination. Together, she and Mom finished the harvest, turning a sad moment into a heartwarming memory.
