Lala had been in a stubborn mood all day. No matter what Mom said, she refused to listen. Whether it was cleaning up her toys, sharing snacks, or even taking a nap, Lala crossed her arms, puffed her cheeks, and firmly said, “No!” every single time. Mom tried to stay patient, but Lala’s stubbornness was reaching a whole new level.
As the afternoon went on, Mom came up with a clever idea—not to be mean, but to teach Lala a little lesson in a playful way. She decided a harmless prank might do the trick.
Later that evening, while Lala was busy playing alone, Mom quietly set up her plan. She hid behind the door wearing a funny mask and waited for the perfect moment. When Lala walked into the room, humming to herself, Mom suddenly jumped out and made a silly “Boo!” sound.
“Ahhh!” Lala squealed, dropping her toy and jumping back in surprise. For a second, her eyes widened in shock—but then she realized it was Mom. Instead of laughing, though, Lala’s expression quickly changed. Her lips tightened, her eyes looked watery, and she turned away with a big pout.
“Lala, it was just a joke!” Mom said, trying to hold back a smile. But Lala wasn’t amused. She crossed her arms again and sat in the corner, clearly sulking. No matter how much Mom tried to explain or cheer her up, Lala refused to respond.
Minutes passed, and the house grew quiet. Mom sat beside her and gently said, “You know, being stubborn all day made things harder for both of us. I just wanted to make you laugh.”
Lala peeked at Mom, still pouting, but her expression softened just a little. After a while, she mumbled, “That was scary…”
Mom hugged her and said, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you too much.”
Finally, Lala let out a small giggle. “Okay… but no more pranks!”
Mom laughed. “Deal—if you promise to be less stubborn.”
Lala nodded, and just like that, the sulking melted away into smiles again.
