Lala Wins! Mom Says Goodbye to Her New Manicure

It was a bright and cheerful afternoon when little monkey Lala noticed something shiny on Mom’s hands. As Mom sat by the window smiling, her fingernails sparkled in soft pink and glittery gold. She had just gotten a beautiful new manicure, and she couldn’t stop admiring it.

“Wow, Mom, your nails are so pretty!” Lala said, clapping her tiny hands.

Mom laughed happily. “Thank you, sweetheart. I wanted to do something special for myself today.”

But Lala had something even more special in mind.

Earlier that morning, Lala had been trying again and again to open her favorite toy box. Inside was her beloved ribbon doll, the one she always hugged before bedtime. The lid was stuck tightly, and no matter how hard she pulled, it wouldn’t open. She had waited patiently for Mom to help, knowing Mom was the only one strong enough to open it.

So when she saw Mom’s beautiful nails, Lala suddenly looked worried.

“Mom, can you help me open my toy box?” she asked softly.

Mom glanced at the box, then at her fresh manicure. “Oh dear,” she whispered. “If I force it open, my new nails might break.”

Lala’s face fell. She hugged the box tightly and looked close to tears. Seeing her daughter’s sad little expression, Mom’s heart melted instantly.

Without another thought, Mom knelt beside the toy box. She carefully tried lifting the lid, but it was still too tight. Finally, she used both hands and gave it one strong pull.

Snap!

The toy box popped open—but one of Mom’s freshly polished nails chipped badly.

Lala gasped. “Mom, your manicure!”

Mom looked at her nail, then at Lala’s happy face as she pulled out her ribbon doll. Instead of feeling upset, Mom smiled warmly.

“It’s okay,” she said. “Your smile is worth more than any manicure.”

Lala jumped into Mom’s arms and gave her the biggest hug. “I love you, Mom!”

At that moment, Mom knew she had made the right choice. Pretty nails could always be fixed later, but helping Lala and seeing her so happy was priceless.

And from that day on, Lala proudly told everyone, “I won! Mom said goodbye to her new manicure for me!”
