Lily woke up early in the morning when the warm sunlight gently touched her face. She stretched happily and ran outside after hearing her dad calling from the garden. Today was a special day because the kumquat trees were finally full of bright orange fruit, ready to be harvested.
The little monkey quickly grabbed her tiny basket and hurried to help her dad. The garden looked beautiful with green leaves shining under the morning sun. Birds were singing softly while the fresh air carried the sweet smell of ripe kumquats everywhere.
“Be careful not to drop them,” Dad said with a smile.
Lily nodded seriously and carefully picked the small fruits one by one. Some kumquats were hanging very high, so Dad lifted her gently onto his shoulders. From up there, Lily giggled excitedly as she reached for the biggest and brightest fruits on the tree.
Soon, their baskets became fuller and heavier.
Even though the work was tiring, Lily never complained. She loved spending time with her dad and wanted to help as much as possible. Whenever Dad wiped sweat from his forehead, Lily would hand him water and cheerfully say, “We can do it together!”
After harvesting enough kumquats, they carried the baskets back home. Dad prepared the kitchen while Lily washed every fruit carefully in a large bowl of water. The tiny monkey watched closely as Dad sliced the kumquats and mixed them with cold water, honey, and ice.
The fresh juice smelled incredibly sweet and refreshing.
Lily eagerly helped stir the big pitcher using a wooden spoon almost bigger than her arm. When everything was ready, Dad poured the golden juice into two glasses. Lily took a small sip, and her eyes immediately widened with happiness.
“It’s so delicious!” she shouted excitedly.
Dad laughed warmly and patted her head proudly. He told Lily that the juice tasted even better because they made it together with love and hard work. Hearing those words made Lily smile from ear to ear.
Later that afternoon, the two sat together in the garden drinking their fresh kumquat juice while enjoying the peaceful breeze. The little monkey felt proud of herself for helping her dad harvest the fruit.
For Lily, the happiest moments were not only about tasty juice but also about sharing simple, joyful memories with the people she loved most.
