One beautiful morning, Lily was happily playing near the house when her dad suddenly called her.
“Lily, are you ready to go to the market with Dad?”
Lily immediately stopped playing and looked at him with a curious expression. Dad needed to buy several things for the family, and he knew that having his little helper beside him would make the trip much easier.
Lily quickly followed Dad and obediently helped him prepare the shopping bags. She even carried a small empty basket, looking very serious as if she were an experienced shopper.
When they arrived at the market, Lily became excited. There were colorful fruits, fresh vegetables, and many delicious foods everywhere. She carefully stayed beside Dad while he walked from one stall to another.
Dad asked Lily to help choose some vegetables. Lily carefully picked up a few and placed them into the basket. Every time Dad praised her, she smiled proudly.
But there was something unusual about this trip.
Dad wasn’t only going to the market to buy food.
He had a secret plan.
After finishing the shopping, Dad stopped at a small fruit stall and quietly bought Lily’s favorite fruit. He hid it inside one of the shopping bags.
Lily noticed Dad acting strangely and became suspicious.
“What is Dad hiding?” she seemed to wonder.
On the way home, Lily kept peeking into the bags. Finally, Dad stopped and pulled out the surprise.
It was a beautiful bunch of sweet bananas!
Lily’s eyes became wide with happiness. She clapped her hands and happily hugged Dad.
Dad laughed and said, “You were such a good helper today, so Dad has a little reward for you.”
Lily happily carried the bananas home, proudly showing Mom what Dad had bought.
Mom smiled when she saw how obediently Lily had helped her dad. She realized that the little market trip had become much more than simple shopping—it had become a special father-and-daughter adventure.
That evening, the family enjoyed the fresh food together. Lily sat beside Dad, happily eating her favorite banana.
Dad smiled and whispered, “My best shopping helper!”
