It was a quiet evening at home, and LYLY was enjoying one of her favorite things—watching a movie! She sat comfortably on the couch, completely absorbed in the colorful scenes playing on the screen.
Her eyes never left the television.
Every funny moment made her giggle, and whenever something exciting happened, LYLY leaned closer with curiosity. She even copied some of the characters’ funny expressions, making herself laugh.
Beside her, Mom had been trying to stay awake.
After a long day, however, Mom’s eyes became heavier and heavier. She leaned back against the couch, closed her eyes for just a moment, and soon fell fast asleep.
LYLY noticed.
She looked at Mom.
Then she looked at the movie.
Then back at Mom.
A mischievous little smile appeared on her face.
“What should I do now?” LYLY seemed to wonder.
She carefully lowered the volume so she wouldn’t wake Mom. Then she quietly grabbed her favorite blanket and placed it gently over her sleeping mother.
But LYLY wasn’t finished.
While Mom slept peacefully, LYLY quietly disappeared into another room. She returned a few moments later carrying a small snack and her favorite toy.
She settled back onto the couch and continued watching the movie.
Every now and then, LYLY glanced at Mom to make sure she was still sleeping.
When a funny scene appeared, LYLY covered her mouth to keep herself from laughing too loudly.
She was clearly having a secret little movie night!
Then came the most surprising part.
LYLY carefully picked up the remote and paused the movie. She looked at Mom sleeping so peacefully and decided that her mother deserved to rest.
Instead of waking her, LYLY snuggled closer and gently rested her head against Mom’s arm.
For a while, the two stayed together on the couch—Mom sleeping peacefully and LYLY quietly enjoying the movie.
Eventually, LYLY’s eyes started getting heavy too.
The movie continued playing softly in the background.
LYLY slowly leaned against Mom, pulled the blanket over herself, and began drifting off to sleep.
When Mom finally woke up, she was surprised to find LYLY sleeping beside her.
She smiled warmly.
It turned out that LYLY’s secret wasn’t anything naughty at all. She simply wanted to enjoy her movie while making sure Mom could get some much-needed rest.
