One sunny afternoon, little monkey LYLY was happily playing with her friends in the garden. They laughed, climbed trees, and chased butterflies for hours. Having so much fun, LYLY completely forgot that she had promised to help her mother clean the house before lunchtime.
When the sun began to set, LYLY suddenly remembered her promise.
“Oh no!” she gasped. “Mom is going to be upset with me!”
Instead of going straight home, LYLY stopped beside a beautiful flower field. Looking at the colorful blossoms, she came up with a clever idea.
“If I give Mom a lovely bouquet of flowers,” she whispered with a smile, “maybe she won’t scold me.”
LYLY carefully picked the prettiest flowers she could find. She chose bright yellow sunflowers, pink daisies, and tiny white wildflowers. She tied them together with a green ribbon she had saved from an old gift.
The bouquet looked beautiful.
Feeling hopeful, LYLY quietly walked home, hiding the flowers behind her back.
Meanwhile, Mom had been waiting patiently. She had finished all the chores by herself and was beginning to worry because LYLY was so late.
When LYLY stepped into the house, Mom gently asked, “Where have you been all afternoon?”
Before answering, LYLY smiled nervously and handed her the bouquet.
“These are for you, Mom,” she said softly. “I wanted to make you happy.”
Mom smiled as she accepted the flowers. They were beautiful, and the thoughtful gift warmed her heart. But she also noticed the worried look on LYLY’s face.
“Did something happen?” Mom asked kindly.
LYLY lowered her head.
“I’m sorry,” she admitted. “I forgot my promise to help you. I thought the flowers might stop you from being angry.”
Mom hugged LYLY tightly.
“Thank you for the beautiful flowers,” she said gently. “They make me very happy. But the best gift isn’t flowers—it’s honesty and keeping your promises.”
LYLY nodded, realizing her mistake.
“I’m really sorry, Mom. Next time I’ll finish my chores before I go play.”
Mom smiled and kissed her forehead.
“I know you will.”
The two of them placed the colorful bouquet in a vase and spent the rest of the evening together, cleaning the house and laughing as they worked.
That day, LYLY learned an important lesson: thoughtful gifts can brighten someone’s day, but honesty, responsibility, and keeping your promises are what truly earn trust and make a mother’s heart proud.
