LYLY the monkey felt hurt because her mother didn’t hug or cuddle her while she slept.

LYLY had always loved one simple thing more than anything else in the world—falling asleep in her mother’s warm, comforting arms. Every night, she would snuggle close, listening to her mother’s gentle heartbeat as she drifted into sweet dreams. It made her feel safe, loved, and protected.

But one evening was different.

After a long day of playing in the garden, LYLY hurried inside, excited for bedtime cuddles. She climbed onto the soft bed and waited patiently, smiling as she watched her mother finish cleaning the house. When Mother finally entered the room, she looked tired from all the work she had done. She gently kissed LYLY on the forehead, tucked a blanket around her, and quietly lay down on the other side of the bed without wrapping her arms around her little monkey.

LYLY’s smile slowly disappeared.

She waited for a hug that never came. She rolled over several times, hoping her mother would notice. She even stretched out her tiny hand, but her mother had already fallen asleep from exhaustion.

A small tear rolled down LYLY’s cheek.

She wondered, “Did Mommy forget about me? Did I do something wrong?” Feeling lonely, she hugged her favorite little stuffed toy instead. It wasn’t nearly as warm as her mother’s embrace, but it was all she had that night.

As the moonlight filled the room, Mother suddenly woke up. She noticed LYLY sleeping at the edge of the bed with tear stains still on her adorable face. Her heart immediately sank.

Realizing what had happened, Mother gently moved closer, wrapped both arms around LYLY, and softly whispered, “I’m so sorry, my precious girl. Mommy was just very tired. I would never stop loving you.”

Even though LYLY was still half asleep, she instinctively cuddled closer to her mother and smiled peacefully. The warmth she had been missing finally returned.

The next morning, Mother prepared LYLY’s favorite breakfast and gave her the biggest morning hug ever. LYLY happily giggled, knowing her mother’s love had never disappeared—it had only been hidden behind a very tiring day.

From then on, Mother promised that no matter how busy or exhausted life became, she would always make time for one special bedtime cuddle, because sometimes the smallest hug can mean the whole world to a little heart.
