LYLY skipped happily out of the house that morning wearing her favorite outfit—a bright yellow T-shirt, colorful shorts, and a cute little hat. She smiled proudly as Mom reminded her, “Have fun, but be careful and stay clean!”
“I will, Mom!” LYLY replied with confidence.
At first, everything went just as planned. LYLY played with her friends, picked flowers, and explored the neighborhood. But while walking near the park, she heard a tiny cry coming from behind a bush.
Curious, LYLY hurried over and found a frightened little puppy stuck in a muddy puddle. Its fur was covered in dirt, and it couldn’t climb out by itself.
Without thinking twice, LYLY carefully stepped into the mud to help. She gently lifted the puppy into her arms, but in the process, muddy water splashed all over her clothes. Her shirt, shorts, shoes, and even her hat became covered with dirt.
The puppy wagged its tail happily, safe at last.
Although LYLY felt happy for helping, she became nervous as she walked home. She looked down at her messy outfit and worried everyone would laugh at her.
When she arrived home, Mom opened the door and looked surprised.
“Oh my! What happened to your clothes?” she asked.
LYLY lowered her head, feeling embarrassed. She quietly explained everything that had happened and admitted she was afraid Mom would be upset.
Instead, Mom smiled warmly and gave LYLY a big hug.
“You may be covered in mud,” Mom said, “but your heart is clean and full of kindness. I’m proud of you.”
Just then, the puppy’s grateful owner arrived after searching everywhere. They thanked LYLY for rescuing their beloved pet and praised her courage.
Hearing the whole story, everyone smiled. LYLY realized there was no reason to feel embarrassed. The muddy clothes weren’t a sign of carelessness—they were proof that she had helped someone in need.
That evening, after a warm bath and clean clothes, LYLY smiled proudly. She learned that kindness is always more beautiful than a perfect outfit, and doing the right thing is something to be proud of.
