The rain fell softly from the gray sky, tapping gently on the leaves and rooftops. Everything in the garden seemed quieter, calmer, as if the world had slowed down just for a moment. Under a small wooden shelter, Monkey Lyly sat alone, hugging her knees and staring out at the rain.
Usually, Lyly loved to play, jump, and laugh. But today was different.
Her bright eyes followed each raindrop as it slid down from the roof and disappeared into the puddles below. “Why does the rain feel so… lonely?” she whispered to herself.
A cool breeze brushed past her, making her shiver slightly. She pulled her tail closer and sighed. Something was on her mind, but she couldn’t quite explain it.
Earlier that day, Lyly had seen her friends playing together. They were laughing and running around, but somehow, she didn’t feel like joining them. Instead, she walked away quietly, feeling a strange heaviness in her heart.
“Am I sad?” she wondered.
The rain grew a little heavier, and the sound of droplets became louder, like a soft song. Lyly listened carefully. It almost felt like the rain understood her feelings.
“What if… I’m just tired?” she said, tilting her head.
Suddenly, she remembered something her mom once told her: “It’s okay to feel quiet sometimes. Not every moment needs to be loud and happy.”
Lyly blinked slowly. “Maybe that’s it,” she said softly.
She watched as a small bird shook off the rain and flew away. The puddles shimmered, reflecting the cloudy sky. There was a gentle beauty in everything, even in the silence.
A small smile appeared on Lyly’s face. “I think I just needed a little time to think,” she said.
Just then, her mom walked over with a warm towel. “There you are, Lyly. What are you thinking about?”
Lyly looked up and smiled. “Nothing bad… just everything.”
Her mom laughed softly and wrapped the towel around her. “That’s okay. Even little hearts need quiet moments.”
As the rain slowly began to stop, Lyly stood up, feeling lighter. Sometimes, being alone with your thoughts wasn’t sad at all—it was exactly what you needed.
