It was a peaceful morning, and Monkey LYLY was usually the first one to wake up with a bright smile and endless energy. She loved running around the yard, playing with her favorite toys, and following her mother everywhere. But today was different.
When Mom walked into the living room, she found LYLY sitting quietly in the corner with the saddest expression she had ever seen. Her little shoulders were slumped, her eyes looked watery, and her tiny lips formed an adorable pout. She didn’t say a word.
Mom immediately became worried.
“What happened, LYLY?” she asked gently.
LYLY simply looked up with her pitiful face and let out a tiny sigh. She wasn’t crying, but she looked as if something terrible had happened. Mom quickly checked to see if LYLY had fallen or hurt herself, but there were no scratches or bumps anywhere.
Thinking she might be hungry, Mom brought her favorite banana slices and a cup of fresh juice. Normally, LYLY would clap her hands with excitement, but this time she barely glanced at the treats before looking down again.
Now Mom was completely confused.
She searched around the house for clues. Had LYLY lost her favorite toy? Had another monkey upset her? Did she feel sick? Everything seemed perfectly normal, yet LYLY continued wearing the same heartbreaking expression.
Just then, Mom noticed a small object hiding beneath the sofa. She reached down and pulled out LYLY’s beloved stuffed monkey toy. One of its arms had come loose, making it look worn and damaged.
The moment LYLY saw the toy, she slowly pointed at it. Finally, Mom understood what had happened. LYLY wasn’t upset because she was hurt—she was heartbroken that her favorite companion had been damaged.
Mom smiled warmly and hugged LYLY close. “Don’t worry,” she said. “We’ll fix it together.”
They gathered a needle, thread, and a colorful little patch. As Mom carefully stitched the toy back together, LYLY watched with hopeful eyes. When the repair was finished, the toy looked almost brand new, complete with a tiny ribbon that made it even cuter.
LYLY’s sad face instantly disappeared. She hugged both her toy and her mother tightly before breaking into the biggest smile of the day.
Mom laughed with relief. What had started as a confusing mystery ended with hugs, happy tears, and a reminder that even the smallest problems can feel huge to someone with a loving heart.
